Octopus v. Shark

You’ll just have to trust me when I say that I had a reason for drawing this.

  1. Yeap, when I behave like that Octopus, multitasking and all over the place, I end up like that shark – very little on the paper or screen 😉

    • Thanks! One of my students complained that the shark is anatomically incorrect. Curiously, this student didn’t take issue with the fact that the shark is sitting in a desk and thinking human thoughts. But the fins are apparently a little off.

    • It’s from a grammar checklist I wrote to address some issues I spotted as I was grading a recent assignment. Mainly, I was just trying to fill up space at the bottom of the page, but our last unit examined, among other things, different ways of thinking about intelligence. I guess it’s a variation on Einstein’s famous quote: “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

  2. The drawing made me giggle and got me curious. I love that Einstein quote you mentioned above. It really is about frame of reference in life sometimes. 🙂
